Aline Dalgleish: Paper Trails - Kozo Studio Thailand
Aline Dalgleish, a talented paper artist with a deep love for handmade paper, recently visited Kozo Studio and our parent company, Kuang Tai Special Paper Co. (KTS). Her visit was a meaningful experience for both her and us, bringing together her passion for paper art and our expertise in papermaking.
A Journey of Passion and Paper Art
Aline Dalgleish's journey with paper began in her childhood, where she found comfort and inspiration in paper, books, brushes, and pencils. This passion remained with her through her law studies and career, but her life took a transformative turn when she discovered Korean Hanji paper in Seoul. This encounter opened a new world for her, blending her love for art with the traditional craft of papermaking. She immersed herself in learning ancient techniques from Korea, Japan, and China, which broadened her perspective on how paper could be used—not just in art but also in architecture, interior decoration, and fashion.
Aline is deeply grateful to the artists and master papermakers who taught her these skills, and she strives to honor their traditions by blending old techniques with new ideas. Her creations, such as light sculptures and wall art, showcase how paper—a natural, ancient material—can still bring beauty and purpose to modern life. She particularly enjoys crafting pieces that play with light and shadow, highlighting the unique textures and qualities of paper in her art.
A Memorable Visit to Kozo Studio
During her visit to our studio in Sukhothai, Thailand, Aline explored our family-run business and learned about our process of making mulberry paper.
"Enjoying every minute of my time in the district of Sukhothai, in the Central Plains of Thailand, a region steeped in heritage and history where I have had the privilege and honour to visit Kuang Tai Special Paper Co, the family business behind the superb @kozostudio_ and an important producer and exporter of mulberry paper products." She shared on her Instagram post.

She noted:
"Papermaking is both an ancient artisanal craft and a worldwide trade with massive global players. Finding a balance between tradition and modernity, the human touch and profitability is a daily challenge. I was most impressed by the way KTS is facing up to it."
A Connection Beyond Borders
Her visit was inspiring for us as well. Aline’s passion for paper and respect for the craft was evident in every conversation we had. Her appreciation for our work and the way we make paper felt like a celebration of our shared values.
For Aline, paper is more than just a material; it’s a way to connect with nature, history, and people. Her art reflects this belief, blending traditional skills with modern ideas. We are grateful for her visit and the chance to share our work with someone who understands and values the art of papermaking so deeply. Aline’s journey is a reminder of the beauty and possibilities of handmade paper and the strong bonds it can create across cultures and continents.
